MittsommerRemise: Celebrating Life in Its Unfinished Charm

Baltic Manors Festival in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern / Germany on 20-21 June 2026

Like pearls on a string, listed manor houses line the old avenues here in north-eastern Germany — and their diversity is astonishing. Since 2007, many of them have opened their doors each year on a weekend around midsummer. The name MittsommerRemise already hints at what awaits visitors: a chance to look behind the façades of the manor houses and take part in the new life unfolding inside them — and in their outbuildings. Around 80 houses invite visitors in: cultural venues, private homes, hotels, guest houses and many-layered places of change. Almost everywhere, guided tours with the new owners are offered, along with small cultural programmes featuring music, exhibitions, markets and culinary pleasures. With a single festival ticket, all of this is open to visitors. Part of the festival’s special charm lies in the fact that many places still carry the appeal of the unfinished. A significant number of the houses are still in the middle of revitalisation. This offers plenty of opportunities to talk with the manor-house rescuers and become part of their projects for a few hours, just as the future of these old walls is beginning to take shape. Organised bus and bicycle tours from house to house are also offered – along with the uplifting feeling of seeing an entire old cultural landscape filling with new life.

Advance tickets are available online HERE

The weekend ticket costs €25 in advance, the day ticket €14

Cultural Heritage Festival

One weekend in June, every year numerous manor houses across Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania invite you to enjoy a day in the countryside.

Highlights from the Midsummer Remise

The Manor House Festival in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania brings the history of this cultural heritage to life. For centuries, historic manor houses have shaped the landscape around the Baltic Sea. Over two days, the people who have saved these manor houses will show off their homes, open their doors and gates, and share the stories of how they came to own them. These historic manor houses, which are listed as cultural monuments, were once the residences of the estate-owning families and today often serve as tourist attractions. Even privately owned manor houses or those still undergoing renovation will be open to visitors on June 20–21, 2026. New usage concepts and forward-looking ideas form the foundation of a vibrant cultural heritage that you can explore this weekend.
