Lithuania Unlimited: Warm-Hearted Encounters and Manor-House Diversity

Baltic Manors Festival in Lithuania on 3-6 July 2026

The Lithuanian Castles and Manors Association invites visitors to an open day. And because it takes place countrywide, there is a particularly impressive variety of houses and architectural styles to admire. For centuries, Lithuania was a cultural contact zone and place of transition between East and West, North and South: the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, German and Baltic trading spheres, periods of Russian rule, as well as Jewish, Belarusian and Polish cultural traditions all shaped the country, its society and its elites. Depending on the period, the patron and regional orientation, Baroque, Classicist, Historicist, Neo-Gothic and local building traditions can be found side by side. Timber construction, too, played a more prominent role here than elsewhere. What all participating venues share is Lithuania’s exceptionally warm hospitality. It comes across most vividly on the house tours personally led by the owners. In many places, there is much more to enjoy as well: culture, music, parties and artistic performances.
