Martenshagen was first mentioned in historical records in 1318 and belonged to the Divitz domain.

During the Thirty Years’ War, it was almost completely destroyed, as were the surrounding villages. The line of the lords of Divitz died out, so the estate passed to the duke. In 1626, he transferred it to his chancellor, Philipp von Horn, who bequeathed it to his grandson, the Swedish representative Count Johannes Lilienstedt. Through further inheritance, the land came into the possession of the von Krassow family around 1842, who established the Frauendorf, Wobbelkow, and Martenshagen estates to revitalize the neglected agricultural land.

Until 1945, the Martenshagen estate was owned by the von der Groeben family and covered 500 hectares. After 1945, the estate was dissolved, the manor house was divided into small apartments, and refugees were housed there. Subsequently, it served as a school, a cooperative store, and a village hall. Privately owned since 1995, it fell into disrepair due to disuse.
Since 2017, Geesche Gruber and her niece have been living and working here. With strong female leadership and the help of hardworking family members, friends, and neighbors, progress is being made step by step. Little by little, the house is being restored to its former glory.

We are happy to showcase it during the MittsommerRemise. Visitors can look forward to a tour of the house, conversations with the hostess, a small exhibition of paintings by the renowned Wustrow artist Hedwig Holtz-Sommer (from a private collection), lovingly baked treats, and warm hospitality.
