Schloss Schlemmin

Vorpommern-Rügen

Strength lies in tranquility. Nowhere else are the days quieter and the nights darker than in the West Pomeranian town of Schlemmin, which traces its origins back to the 14th century. It was in the year 1320 that the noble family von Thun had a moated castle built at this location. In this way, a stone foundation was laid that still provides a firm footing for Schlemmin Castle today.
Perhaps it is these granite stones that have stood in the water for 705 years, the trees in the castle park that are over 500 years old, or the castle walls, now 175 years old, that simply do not allow the general weariness, irritability, and indignation to penetrate this special place.
Like the pendulum of a grand grandfather clock—steady and even—the pulse of time beats at Schlemmin Castle, soothing and relaxing those who are willing to let themselves be carried away by it.
Feel invited to take a break at our castle and linger: “unhurried and unhindered,” as Rilke so poetically described it 122 years ago in his poem “On Patience.”
With this in mind, we look forward to welcoming you to our park, restaurant, or hotel during the Midsummer weekend.
