Film Festival: Cultural Heritage on the Big Screen

Baltic Manors Festival in Warmia-Mazury / Poland on 4-5 Sept 2026

With one of its stately manor houses appearing at the end of an avenue in the lake-rich landscape of north-eastern Poland, the scene already feels cinematic. Once a year, the Masury region goes one step further and hosts a film festival at one or several manor houses. For one weekend, this becomes a destination for cinephiles and culture lovers with a soft spot for manor houses. Here, the two worlds come together perfectly. The films shown are not just any films, but works that are especially connected to manor-house heritage. In Poland, there are quite a few of them — including the well-known feature film Kamerdyner (English title: The Butler) by Filip Bajon, released in 2018 and filmed near Olsztyn. It is no coincidence that many Polish films are set in manor houses. In Eastern Europe, a region marked by profound historical upheavals in the 20th century, these houses became crystallisation points of history. For this reason, they offer rich material for storytelling and discussion even today. The film festival offers many opportunities to immerse yourself in these stories — and to join the discussion with directors and actors, some of whom regularly attend the event in person.

This year's edition of the festival will take place at Pałac Bałoszyce in the very west of the region and feature works of the Polish director Filip Bajon, who will be personally present at the event.
