Gutshaus Bassendorf

Vorpommern-Rügen

The Bassendorf Manor is a typical manor house, as was common in Western Pomerania in the 18th century. The estate complex, with the manor house at its center, is largely preserved. During the Thirty Years’ War, Queen Christina transferred Bassendorf to the Swede Hans Wachtmeister af Björkö. His descendants, the Counts of Wachtmeister, built the Baroque manor house in the 18th century, which remained in their possession until 1945. Subsequently, the manor house was used as a residence, for local community purposes, as a banquet hall, and later for a youth aid project. The current owners are gradually restoring the charm of the stately estate to the house and park, creating a place of peace and relaxation for friends and guests in this idyllic setting.
