Burg Trechow

Rostock

Trechow Castle, built of granite blocks in the Early Renaissance style, was constructed between 1590 and 1601. Around 1800, the complex was converted into an Early Classical manor house featuring illusionist paintings. Restoration and cultural use began in 2004. The castle has been listed as a monument of national significance since 2009. From 2008 to 2024, extensive restoration work was carried out to renovate the castle complex and the courtyard building ensemble. Most recently, the 225-year-old Italian illusionist paintings were restored and brought back to life for future visitors to the castle. Extensive construction work is currently underway to prepare the entire estate for its future use as a major cultural venue.
