The Kavaliershaus was built in 1748 as part of the manor house complex. The building served as a school for over 60 years. After standing vacant for a long time, it was lovingly restored and has been operated as a hotel and restaurant by the Nalbach family of architects since 2010.

The history of the house remains visible in many details: parts of the building’s structure have been exposed, wall colors from centuries past are preserved in layers, and furnishings such as school desks and sports equipment are still in use.

At midsummer, we invite you to a “class reunion” to bring together alumni of the school, guests from the region, and friends of the castle complex on Lake Fincken. In a relaxed atmosphere, we offer homemade cakes, ice cream, and grilled dishes, as well as short guided tours of the house, to share stories and experiences about the place.

A “discovery map” leads from the former classroom to the children’s playhouse and the event space “Blücher’s Barn” in the former castle park, with its natural and architectural landmarks that tell the story of this cultural landscape. From the chapel and the mausoleum by the lake, the path leads along the village street to the round barn; there, an exhibition featuring artifacts from the area’s history is open to the public in the former horse stable.
