Gutshaus Klocksin
Seenplatte
During renovations around 1830, the original Baroque building was given a Neoclassical design. Little of this remains today, as during the GDR era the stucco-decorated façade was replaced with smooth plaster, and the balconies and covered entrance area were removed.
On the right side of the gable, a single-story building adjoins a vaulted cellar; on the park side, there is a large terrace with a magnificent view of the park. Until the 14th century, the estate belonged to the von Linstow family. Christoph von Linstow pledged the estate to Gabriel von Bassewitz. From 1782 onward, the von Frisch family (known as the von Frisch family from 1820) owned the estate. Ewald von Frisch was a hereditary lord of Klocksin. He championed the idea of democratizing all social conditions. Every individual should be able to shape and determine their own living conditions within society. He outlined his ideas—including a reform of Mecklenburg’s social conditions, particularly regarding farmworkers—in several writings. Ewald von Frisch was a member of the Communist League and a comrade-in-arms of Karl Marx.
