The Madsow Manor is located ten kilometers east of Wismar, not far from the Baltic Sea, nestled in the terminal moraine region of northwestern Mecklenburg. It was built in 1781 as a late Baroque, 13-axis half-timbered structure with a high hipped roof on a fieldstone foundation. This individual monument has largely retained its original Baroque structure. Unlike many other manor houses, it was not altered during the Industrial Revolution. The last owner, Alfred Vermehren, had only the south facade fitted with a representative facing wall by architect Ernst Prinz.

Madsow itself is a typical Mecklenburg estate village with a central lake, gatehouse, stables, and houses for the steward and workers, much of which is still preserved. The manor house has been undergoing restoration in accordance with preservation standards since 2020.
