Until 1816, Bülow was a subsidiary estate of Schorssow. That year, the Brunswick merchant Johann Heinrich Degener purchased the estate and subsequently had the unassuming house  renovated in the Classical style: The portico with its colossal Tuscan columns, the symmetry of the basement and narrow upper-floor windows, the flat side risalits, and the pilasters on all facades were created at that time. In the basement, the size of the previous building and even traces of its predecessor are still visible. Despite the elaborate facade, the renovation was carried out sparingly overall, with as much of the original structure as possible being preserved and reused. The family retained ownership of the estate for two generations; it then passed through several hands before being reunited with the Schorssow family in 1890. After the war, displaced persons were the first to move into the house, followed later by the local consumer cooperative and the agricultural production cooperative (LPG). Since 1993, the house has been privately occupied and carefully renovated.

For the Midsummer Remise, the house’s common areas and the ground-floor construction site are open all day. The private rooms and the upper-floor construction site are accessible via guided tours.
