Dating back to the 16th century, the Royal Manor of Jurbarkas was owned by queens including Bona Sforza, Anna of Austria and Cecilia Renata of Habsburg. After the Grand Duchy of Lithuania became part of the Russian Empire, Empress Catherine II granted the estate to her favourite, Platon Zubov. In 1846, the manor passed to the Vasiltchikov family, who built a new Neoclassical palace, two officinas, a church, and numerous estate buildings, while expanding the landscaped park still enclosed by its distinctive red-brick wall and iron gates.

Although the palace was destroyed during the First World War, the manor estate remains an important cultural heritage site. Today, the northern officina houses the Jurbarkas Regional Museum, while the renovated southern officina is home to the Jurbarkas Tourism and Business Information Centre.

South Officina: Some places remain hidden behind closed doors. Places where the walls still hold the echoes of manor life, centuries-old stories, and forgotten secrets.

From July 3–6, between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM, the Jurbarkas Tourism and Business Information Centre invites visitors to take advantage of a rare opportunity to explore the authentic cellars of the southern office building of Jurbarkas Manor, which are normally closed to the public.

These atmospheric underground spaces once formed part of one of the manor's most important areas – the kitchen. Here, daily life bustled behind the scenes, meals were prepared, supplies were stored, and the rhythm of manor life unfolded beyond the grand halls.

Exclusively during the Baltic Manors Festival, these historic cellars will open their doors to visitors. It is a unique chance to discover Jurbarkas Manor from a different perspective – not through its elegant facades, but through the spaces where the true everyday life of the manor once thrived.

North Officina: The Jurbarkas Regional Museum invites visitors to discover newly opened areas of the historic manor complex and explore its mysterious cellars. This is a unique opportunity to step into parts of the building that remained inaccessible to the public for many years and uncover a lesser-known side of the manor’s history.
