Schlosshotel Ralswiek

Romantic Hideaway on Rügen

The Schlosshotel Ralswiek enjoys a peaceful secluded setting directly on the shores of the Great Jasmund Lagoon, combining historic charm with modern comfort.

The magnificent neo-Renaissance Ralswiek Castle offers 65 elegant rooms and suites, an award-winning restaurant and a wellness area.

Surrounded by an extensive park, the lovingly restored property features exquisite Art Nouveau elements by Henry van de Velde and overlooks the open-air stage of the Störtebeker Festival. Its unique location, rich history and authentic atmosphere make Schlosshotel Ralswiek an exceptional retreat on the island of Rügen.

Between Tradition and a Dreamlike Setting

Perched above the Great Jasmund Lagoon, Schlosshotel Ralswiek traces its origins back to the late 19th century. Built between 1894 and 1896 in the neo-Renaissance style for Count Hugo Sholto Douglas, the castle was designed by Berlin architect Gustav Stroh. The landscaped park, originally laid out in the early 19th century, was later expanded, while parts of the interior, including the entrance hall and staircase, were created by renowned Art Nouveau designer Henry van de Velde.

Following decades of changing uses, including a period as a nursing home, the estate was carefully transformed into the present-day hotel by the Raulff family between 1999 and 2002. Today, it offers 65 individually designed rooms and suites and an award-winning restaurant recognised for its commitment to regional cuisine.

Every summer, the famous Störtebeker Festival takes place on the open-air stage below the castle. From the terrace, guests enjoy sweeping views across the stage and the Great Jasmund Lagoon, where culture, history and nature come together in a remarkable setting.

The castle provides an elegant venue for conferences, weddings and family celebrations. Historic architecture, refined interiors and panoramic views create a memorable backdrop for special occasions.

Regional cuisine is at the heart of the castle restaurant. As a member of the “Regional Food Culture of Rügen” initiative, the hotel works with selected local producers. Executive Chef Bernd Krage and his team create seasonal dishes that reflect the culinary traditions of the island.

Guests can unwind in the hotel’s 200-square-metre wellness area. Rügen itself offers endless opportunities for recreation, with long sandy beaches, dramatic chalk cliffs, ancient beech forests and picturesque coastal villages. Whether hiking, cycling, swimming or sailing, the island’s diverse landscape provides the perfect setting for both relaxation and active pursuits.
