Schloss Vietgest

Hotel and event location.

Welcome to the Baroque castle in Vietgest, located in the heart of Mecklenburg Switzerland between Güstrow and Teterow.

The estate had been owned by the Oldenburg family since the 15th century, and J. F. Boldt is listed as the owner from 1786 onward. Between 1792 and 1794, he had the manor house built according to plans by the architect Johann Friedrich Busch. It is said that stones from the demolished east wing of Güstrow Castle were used in its construction.

In 1819, Baron Cornelius von Herzeele acquired the estate at an auction of the entire estate inventory, including livestock. In 1841, Prince Georg Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe, whose family owned nearly 7,000 hectares of land in the Güstrow district, purchased the estate and shortly thereafter had several new farm buildings constructed. After the Schaumburg-Lippe family was expropriated in 1945, the manor house was used as a vacation home by the CDU. Restoration work took place between 1985 and 1990, after which it was operated as a hotel. Since 2019, the new hostess has been Miriam Hager, who has been running it as a cultural castle with a hotel and conference facilities ever since. Weddings are also held there.

Under the motto “modern nobility,” hostess Miriam has been welcoming guests to the newly renovated complex since 2020. Surrounded by a 6-hectare castle park, the imposing complex is stunningly beautiful. In addition to the first guest rooms, there is the impressive Baroque Hall with a 4.80-meter-high ceiling. An extensive cultural program attracts visitors year-round.

Several charming guest rooms in the castle hotel have already been completed and are available for booking by vacationers or for family celebrations, weddings, or conferences. Beautiful spaces, such as the library, the salon, and the winter garden, offer versatile options for your event. Yoga, massages, horseback riding, and carriage rides provide opportunities for relaxation. The hotel offers an electric vehicle charging station, free Wi-Fi, and an elevator.
