Built at the end of the 17th century, Schmarsow Castle—one of the oldest buildings in the region—is located on Dorfstraße in the center of the village of Schmarsow, which has a population of about 300, 12 km southeast of the Hanseatic city of Demmin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The west wing of the castle is reserved for vacation guests: here, the extensively renovated rooms have been converted into vacation apartments suitable for families as well as couples and individuals—especially for visitors who wish to spend their vacation away from the large tourist crowds.
