Schloss Neetzow
Hotel in the castle with park.
Finally, a chance to get out. Into the unspoiled heart of Western Pomerania.
Conveniently located for day trips to the Peene Valley region and not far from the Baltic Sea resorts of Usedom and Rügen, Hotel Schloss Neetzow combines historic elegance with modern amenities. Stately, richly decorated reception rooms and a sun terrace overlooking a small lake and its enchanting Lenné landscape park complement the comfortably furnished guest rooms and suites.
A peaceful retreat in the unspoiled heart of Western Pomerania, where the chirping of birds, the humming of bees, and the warm hospitality of the grandchildren of the former von Kruse estate-owning family invite hotel guests to relax and enjoy themselves with light cuisine and a well-stocked wine cellar. All this without any fuss, frills, or bling—after all, it is the genuine moments in life that bring the most joy.
Built around 1850 in the Gothic Tudor style, the manor house is today one of the best-preserved of its era in the region. The design is by the Berlin architect Georg F. H. Hitzig, who was a student of the Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel at the time. Thanks to continuous use throughout the various eras of modern history, the building, with its opulent wall and ceiling decorations, has been preserved for future generations. The extensive park surrounding the castle was laid out according to plans by the imperial landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné, featuring a small lake and numerous exotic as well as native trees. After more than 170 years, these trees have reached a stately size and have become a welcome home for numerous birds that can be observed.
To ensure the peace and quiet of its hotel guests, daytime tours of the castle’s interior are unfortunately not possible. Once a year, however, Neetzow Castle opens its doors to the interested public with its own program as part of the annual Midsummer Remise

In the midst of the pandemic’s early days, Philipp Skaar and his partner Nico seized the unique opportunity to take over the lease of the estate—which was becoming available at that time—specifically the house that Philipp’s great-great-great-grandfather had built around 1850. Since taking over the property, the two have poured their heart and soul into creating a family-run retreat that places the eventful history, classic aesthetics, and natural tranquility of the manor house and its landscaped park at the center of their guests’ experience.
