Schloss Badow

Vacation apartments and weddings in neo-baroque style

On the edge of the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve, surrounded by a spacious park, stands a charming castle featuring vacation apartments and a wedding venue.

First mentioned in a document in 1230, Badow was once one of the oldest and largest estates in the region. The manor house stands on the edge of a sprawling park featuring avenues of linden and chestnut trees, ancient oaks, monumental yews, and several dendrological curiosities.

Following a fire, the von Döring family—who had owned the estate since 1700—had the current building constructed in 1906 in the Neo-Baroque style on top of the 17th-century cellar vaults, based on plans by architect Paul Korff.

Today, the manor house offers seven vacation apartments with upscale amenities. Badow is home to a small, private herd of horses. A special feature is the collection of historic carriages. A traditional carriage ride with culinary offerings takes place regularly in the spring.

The historic fireplace room, with its wood paneling and marble fireplace, offers a stylish setting for weddings in small groups or with up to 60 guests. Custom seating arrangements and a grand piano for musical accompaniment are available. The castle pond, main entrance, or—optionally—the castle park are ideal locations for wedding photos, with a two-hour photo shoot available for booking.
