Rittergut Streu
Private estate on Rügen
The historic Streu Manor is located in the western part of the island of Rügen. It is part of the municipality of Schaprode, which features a beach and a ferry terminal to Hiddensee.
Streu was first mentioned in historical records in 1319. The manor house dates back to the 18th century and was given its Neo-Gothic facade in 1871. The farm buildings were constructed around 1900. Hans Volkmann was the last owner until 1945. Although recognized as a victim of fascism due to his resistance to the Nazi regime, he was expropriated in 1945. During the GDR era, the estate was divided up and later used as an agricultural production cooperative (LPG). The property fell into rapid disrepair, especially after German reunification. In 2001, the Reimann/Puvogel family from Hamburg took over the dilapidated complex and restored it in accordance with historic preservation guidelines. Today, the estate is used for private residential purposes and as a veterinary practice.
Vacation on Rügen in the thatched cottage
The two vacation apartments intended for guests are located in the thatched-roof manor house on the estate grounds. Each has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room. Two large terraces in the spacious garden are perfect for breakfast and relaxation. The park, the surrounding area, and the island of Rügen offer everything you need for a peaceful and nature-filled vacation, as well as for an eventful and culturally enriching one. The Streu Manor participates in the annual Midsummer Remise, the festival of manor houses, and parts of it are also open to the public on special occasions such as Open Monument Day.
