Herrenhaus Vogelsang
Time of the new romanticism
An event venue with vintage charm located between Teterow and Güstrow in Mecklenburg Switzerland.
Vogelsang is situated in a beautiful, hilly landscape shaped by the Ice Age, on the edge of the “Mecklenburg Switzerland” Nature Park. Vogelsang was first mentioned in writing in 1379; until 1734, it was owned by the Wozenitz family. The von Plessen family founded the village of Vogelsang and managed the fief until 1838.
In the 19th century, the property changed hands frequently. In the years leading up to 1840—during the German Romantic period—the Manecke family built the current Tudor-style manor house along with the English-style landscape park. In 1884, the estate was converted into a tax-exempt property and sold to the Hamburg merchant Julius Hüniken.
The Hüniken family erected additional structures such as the tea house, the stables with a water tower, a coach house, and a steward’s house, which are still preserved today as a cohesive ensemble alongside several smaller stable buildings and a beautiful apple orchard. Since 2010, Dr. Robert Uhde from Rostock has been the new owner and passionate “lord of the manor.” Drawing on his extensive experience in planning and executing beautiful events and cultural programs through his agency work, he has gradually transformed Vogelsang Manor, along with its park and estate, into a “timeless” venue where people from near and far can escape the daily grind for a while.
Even while restoration work was still underway, smaller and larger cultural events took place and continue to take place regularly.
In addition to the Midsummer Remise in June and the “Baroque Banquet” in the fall, the house, along with its park, camping facilities, and simple guest rooms, is available for rent for weddings and private celebrations. The charming estate has also served as a film set.
New for 2025: During the season, the Schloss Café "V" is open on Tuesdays and Sundays. Opening hours and information via social media.
