House of 100 historic windows

Stylish vacation rentals in a simple manor house, renovated with an emphasis on sustainability, located in the Lake District.

The Manor House

Located on the outskirts of town, the manor house stands on a 3-hectare, park-like property on the edge of the Mecklenburg Lake District. It was built in 1879 and has been undergoing renovation since 2017 in accordance with historic preservation guidelines and ecological standards. Of course, the first completed apartments feature running water, internet, and heating. But the walls are finished with clay and lime plaster, and the 150-year-old original windows are painted with linseed oil paint. True to the motto “Heritage Meets Modernity,” modern comforts are thoughtfully integrated into the historic structure. Modern bathrooms are paired with restored half-timbered beams, and comfortable beds with original plank floors. In between, you’ll find the occasional piece of designer furniture, an antique chair, or a custom-made piece. Each apartment is unique and has been designed with great care. All vacation apartments offer views of the countryside. The sound of birdsong wakes guests in the morning.

Apartments
Each apartment in the house features a generously equipped kitchen with an induction cooktop, various coffee makers, and all other necessary utensils. A selection of spices, oils, and vinegar is provided, as well as organic dish soap. High-quality bathrooms are found in every apartment. Plastic is consistently avoided in the furnishings; the bed linens are made of pure cotton, the blankets and pillows are down-filled, and additional blankets, pillows, and the curtains are covered in linen.  Currently, there are six apartments for 2 to 6 people.

Seminars, retreats, space for music and festive occasions
The Zarchlin Manor offers a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for many occasions.
The hall: during the GDR era, three rooms on the bel étage were combined to create a 112 m² hall. This hall is ideal for flexible use, such as meetings, seminars, festive dinners, and social gatherings around the long table. It is also suitable for musical performances or readings. Presentations can be streamed on the extra-large TV screen. With its calming atmosphere and south-facing view over the estate park, the room is also perfectly suited for yoga, bodywork, or dance.

Estate Kitchen as an Additional Community Kitchen:

Accessible to all guests and with direct access to the spacious terrace, there is a fully equipped kitchen featuring an extra-large induction stove and various ovens. This is the restored former estate kitchen. Here, large groups can chop ingredients at the freestanding kitchen island and then dine together at the long table indoors or outdoors. We also have various recommendations for catering and chefs upon request.

For musicians:

The house is particularly well-suited for musicians when rented as a whole. There is an acoustically optimized rehearsal room of about 18 square meters, equipped with a PA system, high-quality drums, guitar amplifiers, and various instruments. The hall is also suitable for making music together as well as for performances. A Bösendorfer concert grand piano is located here. Songwriting camp—tour break, or intensive rehearsal: Musicians can develop, practice, or perform music here in small or large groups and stay overnight in the same house. During a tour break, you can enjoy some rest together while still going over the set in between.

The Estate Park
With sweeping views over fields and forests to the south and west, it invites you to enjoy sports and relaxation; to the east and north, the village is far enough away that you can feel completely at peace here. All year round, you can watch the last rays of the sun sink below the horizon over the fields from here in the evening.
