The Stellshagen Manor House is home to a renowned organic and wellness hotel. The restaurant serves a vegetarian and vegan buffet, while the café offers tarts, cakes, and delicious treats. Fruit and vegetables come from the hotel’s own Bioland farm (DE-ÖKO-006), which is part of an archive for rare fruit trees. Guests can relax and rejuvenate in the natural park, with treatments at the TAO Wellness Center, during the daily exercise program, and in the sauna house with its natural swimming pond.

A successful self-made man from Hamburg had the manor house built for his son in 1924. He purchased 1,500 acres of prime farmland from the landowner Kammerherren von Plessen between Klütz and Damshagen, and ensured that his son was housed in stately fashion on the highest elevation in the area.
The 14-room house was, so to speak, built around the antique sandstone ornaments of the main portal, which the old Bach had acquired somewhere.
They defined the style of the entire estate. In the village, the manor house was called the “castle” because of its imposing size. But the castle was not home to nobles, but rather to people with an uncomplicated and unconventional way of life—everything revolved around farming, the weather, the harvest, and the festivals that accompanied the leisurely rhythm of the seasons. With the land reform of 1944, the landowner was forced to divide up his land and lived with his family in his manor house only temporarily until he and his family left for good.
Since reunification, the manor house had been in the possession of the “Treuhand” and was put up for auction in 1994.

In 1994, the Stellshagen manor house returned to the family’s ownership thanks to the landowner’s granddaughter.
Construction work began soon after. The manor house was renovated from the roof to the basement according to ecological building principles. The single-story annex, which had been built during the GDR era and used as a school, was expanded to two stories and fitted with large windows and balconies.
In 1996, after overcoming many bureaucratic hurdles, the granddaughter and great-granddaughter of the former estate owner opened an organic and wellness hotel with its own organic farm and wellness center featuring a sauna house and natural swimming pond.
