Set in a stunning and very peaceful location, the cooperative has created a place for community and retreat. WERK GUT WOHNEN in Schlatkow offers the perfect setting for a relaxing family vacation, a retreat or seminar for groups, or even a quiet workspace for focused work. Three well-appointed, light-filled apartments have been completed so far. Thanks to the sense of community, you’ll always meet other members here with whom you can go on leisurely hikes, bike rides, canoe trips on the Peene River, or a trip to the sea. An old estate is being filled with new life: somewhere between a guesthouse and a co-working space, between vacation and work, between city and countryside.

The manor house and the two half-timbered houses are located on an open plot of land roughly the size of a soccer field in the center of Schlatkow, a village with 140 residents. Schlatkow is located 20 km west of Usedom, between Anklam and Greifswald.

One of the half-timbered houses was renovated in 2023 in accordance with historic preservation standards and now houses three charming vacation apartments, which are available for use and rental. There is also a common room, ideal for dining, playing, or working together—recently equipped with a fiber-optic connection.

Between the three buildings, there is plenty of space for playing, running around, enjoying a relaxed breakfast outdoors, or spending a cozy afternoon reading. The quiet location away from through traffic ensures that it is wonderfully peaceful here, and even small children can run around safely. Right next to the property is a large playground and the community’s 600-square-meter event barn, which is perfect for parties and events.

From the manor house, you can go on hikes and bike rides through the natural beech forests to Züssow or to the Peene River, the “Amazon of the North.” On the Peene, there is a small, quiet swimming spot that is perfect for paddling.

Quilow Water Castle, with its picturesque café, is just 3 km away. Cyclists can reach Greifswald, the Baltic Sea in Lubmin, or the Achterwasser lagoon of Usedom in the tranquil town of Lassan in about an hour. The organic grocery store and café in nearby Züssow are easily accessible on foot, by bike, or by car and invite you to shop and enjoy a cup of coffee.
