The 550 square meters are simple, solid, and square in layout; the manor house has stood in its place since 1874 and does without a sweeping front staircase or ornate bay windows. There is a reason for this pragmatic simplicity. Until 1918, the estate and manor house belonged to the Dobbertin Monastery and were leased out. After turbulent years as emergency housing, the mayor’s office, and a community center, it stood empty following German reunification. In 2007, the boarded-up building had holes in its roof and windows when Bettina Buschow and Patrick Oldendorf saved it at the last minute.

In addition to the manor house, the adjacent Old Kitchen House and the wheelwright’s workshop have since been renovated, and additional apartments and double rooms have been furnished.

Guests immediately feel at home here, no matter why they’re in Lexow: whether it’s a family vacation with children or a four-generation family reunion, a corporate seminar or a getaway with classmates, a golf event, a horseback riding vacation, or a peaceful, relaxing getaway in nature.
