Gutshaus Groß Görnow
New village center
The Groß Görnow estate is located right on the Warnow Gorge. Since 2021, Barbara Kampen has been taking care of the manor house, about which nothing was known at the time of purchase.
Research revealed that Paul Korff, an architect specializing in manor houses from Rostock, renovated the house in 1904. In 1920, the right third of the house was added as an extension.
In the justification for its designation as a historic monument by the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the house is described as unique. "It is an unusual manor house, unique in this region, in the form of a double house. The manor house has been preserved in its evolved state, with structural elements dating from the 17th/18th to the early 20th century. The defining phase of renovation at the beginning of the 20th century is attributed to the architect Paul Korff." ... "Historical significance: The manor house is significant for the history and identity of the village of Groß Görnow and for the cultural landscape of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which is shaped by manor estates. It has been preserved in a well-maintained and authentic original condition and, in its exterior and interior, represents an exemplary artistic testament to the character of rural architectural forms and rural living culture. It is a testament to the living conditions on an estate in Mecklenburg from the early 19th century until 1945."
The renovation of the manor house is still in its early stages.
