Gutshaus Buschhof

Vacations in the countryside

A small country house in the lake district.

The Buschhof manor house, a listed historic building, was built in 1790 by the Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz as a tenant farmhouse. The courtyard side was redesigned in the Neoclassical style after 1816 with a flat triangular gable. The estate includes two large barns and a side building that was used as a "retirement home" and stable, as well as a landscaped park.

After World War I, the estate was privatized and acquired by Mr. Adolf Schliemann, one of Mecklenburg’s largest building contractors at the time. After 1945, the estate was expropriated. Initially, the manor house served as emergency housing for refugees and displaced persons; later, it housed the municipal office, a kindergarten, a restaurant, a cooperative store, meeting and banquet halls for the community, and several apartments. In 2002, the current owners acquired the manor house. With an understanding and respect for the past, as well as a love for detail, they have been renovating the house since 2021 and have “brought its character back to life.” The village has regained its iconic building. In addition to an apartment for the owners, the house features two vacation apartments and a banquet hall for cultural events. The small café is open in the summer.
