Gutshaus Bassendorf
Charming manor house with simple guest rooms
Bassendorf Manor is a Baroque manor house located on the border between Mecklenburg and Vorpommern, right on the Trebel River. This charming country estate in the Baltic Sea hinterland offers simple guest rooms and vacation apartments.
The Bassendorf Manor House is a typical manor house of the kind commonly found in Western Pomerania in the 18th century. The estate complex, with the manor house at its center, is largely preserved. During the Thirty Years’ War, Queen Christina transferred Bassendorf to the Swede Hans Wachtmeister af Björkö. His descendants, the Counts of Wachtmeister, built the Baroque manor house in the 18th century, which remained in their possession until 1945. Subsequently, the manor house was used as a residence, for local community purposes, as a banquet hall, and later for a youth aid project. The current owners are gradually restoring the charm of the stately estate to the house and park, creating a place of peace and relaxation for friends and guests in this idyllic setting.
