In 1806, Hans von Labes had the new house built on the ruins of the old one on a hill in Mecklenburg Switzerland. After marrying Louise von Schlitz, he adopted his father-in-law’s name and was elevated to the rank of count by the king. Delayed by the war, construction did not resume until 1812. Count von Schlitz had the 60-hectare estate, including a landscape park, 36 monuments, and farm buildings, renovated. The estate passed to his daughter “Adele” and his son-in-law Heinrich von Bassewitz-Schlitz. In 1931, the Mecklenburg Agricultural Society took over the property and sold it again in 1932. After the family was expropriated in 1945, the manor house was used as refugee housing and a school.
