Pałac w Rekowie Górnym

The palace in Rekowo proudly embodies the beautiful and rich history of the Puck region. Records appear as early as the 14th century, indicating that Rekowo was a knight's estate.

The proud heir to this Kashubian village located on the edge of the Darżlubska Forest was the knight Ścibor of Krostkowo. His palace stood on a small hill, later known as Mogiła. This name was coined after the palace was demolished, and a cemetery was established in its place for wealthy local residents and the owner's family.

The next owner of the Rekowo estate and the Rekowo Palace, this time built in the center of the village, became Hagen of Sobowidz in 1871. Thanks to the new owner's aesthetic sense, a beautiful, intimate, eclectic palace was created, featuring many Italianate architectural elements. This palace became one of the representative buildings of the Puck region during this period. Paul Mahncke became the next owner. At the same time, as on many other estates in Pomerania, a distillery and a forge were built, which today serve the residents of Rekowo Górne as a chapel dedicated to St. Hubert. The Mahncke family beautifully expanded the estate, while also caring for the villagers.

After the end of World War II and the abandonment of the estate by its last rightful owner, the Muhncke family, the palace, like many similar buildings, was destroyed. The palace in Rekowo stood and fell into disrepair for a long time, ownerless. Later, the estate was transformed into a State Agricultural Farm. In the 1960s, a Vegetable Experimental Station was established on its grounds, and the palace housed offices, a community center, a library, a café, and even apartments.

It was not until 1994 that it returned to private ownership. Currently, beautifully restored and under the care of a monument conservator, the palace is an architectural gem of the Puck Region, and the park, with its numerous old trees, is a wonderful place not only for relaxation, but also for great fun.
