Legendary Latvia: Manor Secrets and Mystical Stories in Autumn Fog

In Latvia, the manor festival is called ‘Night of the Legends’. Extremely well-liked and with a 20-year tradition already, it takes place every year at the end of the season last weekend in October. So in 2026 it will be the 31 October. Its popularity is no surprise, as several elements come together here in a particularly evocative way. There is the season itself, which often wraps the manor landscape in mystical fog. There are the manor house legends, winding like narrative ivy around the old walls. And there is the scent of firewood and mulled wine when these stories are being told by candlelight in many houses across Latvia. Together they create a mood unlike any other. This manor festival is legendary also because it was probably the first of its kind in the entire Baltic Sea Region.
